Website Onboarding - Shipping & Checkout Requirements
1. United States Shipping
Offer FREE SHIPPING throughout the United States. Display "FREE U.S. SHIPPING" clearly on the website and during checkout. For a standard U.S. shipping address, the shipping charge should automatically calculate to $0.00, subject to any future exclusions Marley & Mae may establish.
2. California - Proposition 65 Checkout Logic
Any order with a California shipping address must trigger the applicable Proposition 65 warning/acknowledgment workflow before checkout can be completed. Use shipping state = California as the trigger rather than maintaining a manual list of California ZIP Codes.
Required California Acknowledgment
The California acknowledgment checkbox must be an active customer action and should not be pre-checked. The customer must acknowledge the applicable warning before placing the order. The precise warning language should be based on the product/exposure and Marley & Mae's compliance guidance.
California Recordkeeping
The website should retain a timestamped electronic record showing that the California acknowledgment was completed and associate that record with the applicable order number/customer transaction. This creates a useful compliance audit trail.
3. International Shipping
International orders are permitted, but international shipping is not free. Shipping should be calculated and charged according to the destination, package weight/dimensions, selected carrier/service, and other applicable shipping variables.
Duties, Taxes & Import Charges
The checkout and shipping policy should clearly state how customs duties, VAT/GST, taxes, brokerage fees, and other import charges are handled - whether collected at checkout where supported or payable by the customer upon import/delivery.
